Spirits will shine bright in Lompoc tonight as residents take part in the annual Light Up a Life ceremony.
It serves as a time for friends and family to honor the lives of loved ones who have passed.
It is also a fundraiser for Marian Hospice programs and services.
Community members have purchased stars in honor of their deceased loved ones and with the donation, the names of those memorialized will be read aloud.
This year, the Lompoc event pays special tribute to the Poett family, in remembrance of their father, Harold Poett, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of 2008 and fought until his death in December of the same year.
The Poett family will light the Hospice Memorial Tree and share some memories of their father, as well as their experience with hospice care.
"My family and I were grateful for the Hospice services my father received," said William Poett, Harold's son. "It was such a beautiful experience to have the people that loved him and those he loved with him during his last few months."
The event starts at 7 p.m and is being held at Centennial Park on the corner of Cypress and H Streets.
