Local author donates proceeds from book sales to local landmark

A local author is giving back to a local landmark.

Scott Washburn, the author of "The Best Bear Hugs Ever," held a book signing Saturday at the Nipomo Library Fair.

A portion of the proceeds from his book sales go to the Dana Adobe in Nipomo.

"It's kind of a hidden jewel, and the vision that they have, and they continue to proceed towards that vision, it's really wonderful, and I'm glad to be a part of it," said Washburn.

His book is about a dad who goes to the zoo to get the best bear hug ever, but he quickly finds out the best bear hugs come from his kids.

"The joy for me was reading it to my kids and getting those hugs. You know, when I get towards the end of the book, I have my son and daughter run to me and give me those bear hugs," said Washburn.

The Dana Adobe is a California Historic Landmark. If you missed the event, you can find Washburn's book at the Adobe and several stores in Arroyo Grande and Morro Bay. The Adobe is also hosting a benefit concert on August 24th.
