The Santa Barbara bail bonds company that bailed actor Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi out of Santa Barbara County Jail will have to forfeit $1 million for not producing the couple within one year.
On Friday, a judge denied a motion by the bail bonds company to exonerate the bonds, $500,000 for Randy Quaid and $500,000 for his wife. The district attorney's office says the company may try to appeal the ruling.
The Quaids are accused of causing thousands of dollars in damage to a guest house in Montecito they once owned.
The couple fled to Canada, where Evi is a citizen. An arrest warrant stands for both of them for missing out on their court appearances, and they're now considered fugitives from the United States. Canada has refused to extradite the pair.
The district attorney's office says the money will go to the county's general fund.
