Think pink. Drink pink. That's what several San Luis Obispo bars are promoting this month, and it's all for a good cause.
October marks Breast Cancer Awareness month, and seven bars in the downtown SLO area have decided to mix it up a bit.
All month long, Mother's Tavern, Bulls Tavern, Creekside Brewing Company, Frog and Peach, The Library, McCarthy's, and Marston's will partner with Sweet Revenge liqueur to create a signature pink cocktail. They will donate $1 from each purchase to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraising 5K walk, which takes place in San Luis Obispo at the end of the month. Sweet Revenge is a pink colored wild strawberry sour mash liqueur.
Heather Caudill with the American Cancer Society said on Monday, "there's a lot of people that have not been affected by breast cancer, or never thought of being able to, can't afford to make a small donation, and this is a different way for them. And, it reaches a different group of society as well."
The seven bars are also forming a team to participate in the Making Strides Against Cancer fundraising walk.
The American Cancer Society said all donations made from the pink signature cocktails will stay within the Central Coast, to help local cancer patients and their families.
The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K fundraising walk is on Saturday, October 27 at the Mission Plaza.
