Local breweries are filling Mission Plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo Sunday afternoon.
The fourth annual Brews and Bites event features 10 local breweries serving craft beer, and five local restaurants serving food that pairs well with those beers.
There is also live music for everyone to enjoy.
Organizers say that San Luis Obispo County has seen many local breweries open up recently, including six since the beginning of this year.
Event organizer Douglas Martin says, "Craft beer is on fire right now. A lot of people are interested in trying new beers and new tastes, new flavors, and discovering a new world. A lot like the micro labels of wine, this is the beer world in small batches. Small, hand-brew batches."
He says American styles of beer dominate the palate, and tend to be the most popular.
Organizers say they hold this event on what they consider the last real summer weekend of the year to welcome the harvest into fall.
Proceeds of the event will benefit the San Luis Obispo Brewers Guild and Woods Humane Society.
The event will continue until 6 p.m. Sunday.
