Local communities to take part in National Night Out

Tuesday is the 31st annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention, generate support for local anti-crime programs and strengthen police-community partnerships.

Fifteen thousand communities are expected to participate, including several on the Central Coast.

There will be an event in Paso Robles from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in front of the Public Safety Center at 900 Park Street.

Morro Bay's event will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Del Mar Park in north Morro Bay.

Santa Maria's starts at 4:00 p.m. and runs until 8:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Community Park.

And Lompoc's event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m in the parking lot of Lompoc High School.
