Local companies rank high in national poll

More than a half-dozen San Luis Obispo County businesses have reason to brag. They have been ranked among the fastest-growing private, independent businesses in the US.

SMS Masterminds (#731), MindBody (#1360), iFixit (#1735), TekTegrity (#2131), Meathead Movers (#2605) and Shopatron (#3402) all made the prestigious Inc. 5000 list published annually by Inc. magazine.

The magazine featuring the list is hitting newsstands now. This year's list measures revenue growth from 2009 through 2012. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2009. These SLO companies boasted 3-year revenue growth rates ranging from 91 percent to 629 percent and total 2012 revenue of $2.4 million to $32.5 million.

IQMS, based in Paso Robles, made the list for the third year in a row. The company's ranking on the list (#3230) is 600 spots higher than last year.

The magazine will recognize this year's honorees at an event in October held in Washington D.C.
