A Central Coast firefighter returns to duty today after battling a life threatening disease for 18 months.
Santa Barbara County Firefighter Tyler Gilliam was diagnosed with cancer in february of last year.
Since then he has undergone six rounds of chemotherapy, two stem cell transplants and 5 surgeries.
The eight-year veteran with county fire missed 540 days of work.
Tyler said he's excited about returning to work at Station 11 in Goleta and getting back to a normal lifestyle.
