CAL FIRE crews from San Luis Obispo County are headed to help fight a fire burning near Parkfield in Monterey County.
CAL FIRE sent eight fire engines, a bulldozer, four hand crews, a helicopter and a water tender to join Monterey County CAL FIRE crews already battling the flames. As of 12:50 p.m., firefighters estimated flames had spread nearly 1,000 acres. The fire started sometime before noon Monday near Turkey Flats and Cholame, according to CAL FIRE's Twitter page.
It wasn't clear if any structures were immediately threatened.
