It's a local effort to help those impacted by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. On Monday, a fundraiser was held at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital. They served a barbecue-style lunch and in return requested a $7 donation. Larger donations were also accepted.
Vicki Stambaugh, fundraiser organizer, said, "I saw the pictures of what was going on there and the after shocks. I was just trying to put myself in their place and it's hard to even imagine but I wanted to do something. We have a lot of great staff that likes to help people."
One hundred-percent of the proceeds are going to the Catholic Medical Mission Board. It's an organization of volunteers that's been serving the needs of Haiti since 1912.
