Local girl raising money for Humane Society through handmade toys

A 9-year old girl from Goleta has started a fundraising campaign to benefit the Santa Barbara Humane Society.

When Maya Grace Lewandowski saw how old the computers at the Humane Society were, she decided to raise $7,000 for the organization. So far, according to her father, she's raised $1,500.

Now, she's revving up the fundraising with her "Pets for Pets" campaign. Each person who donates $25 or more to the Santa Barbara Humane Society and mentions "Pets for Pets" or "Wigglo Pets" will receive one of Maya's handmade toys for free.

Maya started making and selling her Wigglo Pets last year. They are small toys that respond to a person's touch.

The Pets for Pets campaign continues through the month of October.
