Some local groups made sure families in northern San Luis Obispo County have a warm meal, a cozy coat, and plenty of toys this Christmas.
Atascadero Loaves and Fishes, Kiwanis, Coats for Kids, and Salvation Army were giving out donations Wednesday.
Food baskets included ham or turkey and everything needed for a nice holiday meal. Toys for Tots was there to give out toys. Families also took home coats of all sizes.
"People of Atascadero are very generous. I've been to other places but have never been to any other place where people are as generous as they are here," said Frank Fertschneider of Loaves and Fishes.
The annual Christmas project helps families with low or very-low incomes in Atascadero, Templeton, Santa Margarita, Creston, and California Valley.
