High school students will compete Wednesday night using their words.

Seven high schools around San Luis Obispo County are sending their top students to the San Luis Coastal Adult School for "Poetry Out Loud."

Students will perform great works of poetry entirely from memory.

They already competed against more than 3,400 other local students to get a spot in Wednesday's competition.

The winner will represent San Luis Obispo County at the statewide competition in Sacramento on March 24 and 25.

"Poetry Out Loud" is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

It's free and open to the public.

The event takes place in Room J2 at The San Luis Coastal Adult School, 1500 Lizzie Street in San Luis Obispo.
