Local homeless shelters ask public for help collecting gifts for families in need

Two homeless shelters in San Luis Obispo are asking the public for help making the holidays special for some local people.

The Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter and the Prado Day Center are hosting a Holiday Party Tuesday at the Prado Day Center.

Embassy Suites is providing a hot breakfast to kick off the party, and after everyone is done eating, gifts will be handed out to kids and adults.

New gift items can be dropped off at the Prado Day Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday. It is located at 43 Prado Road in San Luis Obispo.
