Local hospital receives award from its parent company

Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo has received Tenet Health Care System's 2010 Circle of Excellence Award.

It is just one of eight Tenet hospitals nationally and one of two in California to achieve this recognition.

Key metrics used to evaluate the hospitals were patient, physician and employee satisfaction scores, clinical quality and financial performance.

"The patients see an environment in our hospital that's always aware of number one, safety; number two, the quality of the services we provide; but then the customer service, really looking at their needs when they're compromised and in the hospital," said Candy Markwith, C.E.O. of Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.

"The hard work, determination and commitment of the employees at Sierra Vista Medical Center made 2009 a great year for the hospital," said Stephen L. Newman, M.D., Tenet's C.O.O.
