The decorations are starting to be hung with care, a sign that the holidays are here.
It is a time when people will get together with family and friends, but for those who have recently lost a loved one it can be an emotional time.
For those people, Catholic Healthcare West hospitals on the Central Coast are holding two, free seminars this week called, "Managing Loss and Grief During the Holidays."
During these intimate group settings information will be offered on available resources and successful coping strategies, all to help make it a joyous time of year.
"A lot of people find it difficult to talk about their feelings during the holidays so this is usually a safe place where they can come and share their feelings with people who are dealing with the same thing," said Jennifer Davis, an oncology counselor and patient advocate at Marian Medical Center.
The first seminar is Wednesday, November 10, from 10 a.m. -11:30 a.m. at Marian's Extended Care Conference Room in Santa Maria.
Tthe second is Thursday, November 11, from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at French Hospital Medical Center's Auditorium.
