Some local kids now have a better idea of how Materials Engineering works.

The Exploration Center in Grover Beach hosted "Nano Days" on Saturday. It was part of a nationwide educational program promoting Nano-scale Engineering.

The Cal Poly Materials Engineering Department came out to demonstrate how Nano Engineering works. They say we see Nano Technology every day, but we aren't always aware of it.

"If you've ever bought socks that say they have some chemical of some sort of material in them that is antimicrobial, it's probably Nano silver," said Luke Thornley, a second year Materials Engineering major at Cal Poly.

Kids were invited to participate in hands on, interactive, Nano-scale activities throughout the day.
