Starting Monday, local law enforcement will be cracking down on distracted driving.
Their goal is to stop drivers from texting or operating hand-held cell phones while driving. The distracted driving campaign will last for the rest of April.
The first ticket will cost $159 and further offenses will be at least $279 each.
Experts say drivers are four times as likely to crash while using hand-held devices.
