A local library is getting ready for some big changes.

The Orcutt Branch Library closed its doors last Saturday at 1157-K East Clark Avenue in preparation for its move.

It will re-open on Saturday, Dec. 8, at its new location, 175 South Broadway in Union Plaza in Old Town Orcutt.

The new building will be almost twice as big as the old one.

Many organizations, including the City of Santa Maria, the Santa Maria Public Library, the Friends of the Orcutt Library, the County of Santa Barbara, and community members have been working together for years to make the move possible.

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m.

The library will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It is closed on Fridays and Sundays.
