Veterans Day isn't until Monday, but the celebrations started Sunday on the Central Coast. A flag raising ceremony was held Sunday morning at the World War II Memorial in Oceano. Local Life Scout, Tim Fugate, had been working since February of 2012 to refurbish the memorial with a walkway, flagpole, and plaque. He says the memorial wasn't very noticeable before, and he wanted to change that. "None of my family was a veteran, but I have a lot of friends whose family are veterans, who have been affected by the wars, so I just have a lot of respect for the men and women of our country who have given their lives and served our country," said Fugate. If you're interested in visiting the newly refurbished memorial, it's at the Oceano Depot Railroad Museum, which is located at 1650 Front Street.
