Local men sport heels to raise awareness about sexual assault

Some local men literally took a walk in someone else's shoes Saturday.

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness month, the 11th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event was held Saturday morning.

The Sexual Assault Recovery and Prevention Center, along with the North County Women's Shelter teamed up to put on the event.

This year's event featured some celebrity walkers like Mr. Eco and a number of PG&E workers.

Representatives from each Cal Poly Fraternity house also attended.

"It's fun to see men try to walk in high heels, and the idea is that you can't really see what somebody experiences until you walk a mile in their shoes so this is bringing awareness to what women's experiences are," said Jennifer Adams, the Executive Director for SARP and the Women's Shelter.

Proceeds from the event go directly to the SARP Center and Women's Shelter.
