A local non-profit was doing their part on Sunday to help people dealing with the effects of cancer treatment.

Hats for Hope, based in San Luis Obispo, held its annual Community Hat Party on Sunday.

Hats for Hope finances hats, wigs, and head coverings for Central Coast residents that have lost their hair due to cancer treatments.

They distribute certificates that can be redeemed for personally-fitted wigs or head coverings.

Sunday's event was held at the San Luis Obispo County Club and included music, wine and food, auctions, and even a hat contest.

Organizers say their mission is to help women keep their dignity and to help with their self-esteem during cancer treatments.

The organization has been around for ten years.
