As police and FBI searched Boston Friday for a suspected bomber, one local woman and her family were caught up in the mix.
"I mean, it was just sirens going by, just nonstop sirens zooming by our hotel," said Tracey Edwards.
She and her daughter made the trip to Boston to check out colleges, but a late night shootout at the MIT campus put those plans on hold.
"Every block you see five to ten police officers in bright yellow vests, the army, the national guard, people with machine guns," said Edwards.
They got a front row seat to the chaos late last night.
"We went right past MIT, about the time of the shooting, but I didn't hear the shooting," said Edwards. "By the time we got to the hotel, which is no more than one or two blocks away from the campus, we saw the helicopter and heard the sirens, so we went right past MIT when it happened."
Blue and red lights reflected into the hotel room.
"So I'm watching it on TV but also looking outside and seeing all the activity outside my window," said Edwards.
She says they woke this morning to an eerie sight.
"It's real quiet out there, pretty much no one is walking the streets," said Edwards.
The normal hustle and bustle of the Boston streets had disappeared.
"And we probably saw maybe only five or six people out, whereas days before it was tons of people moving around," said Edwards.
Edwards and her family say they hope for one thing.
"Like everybody else we want justice."
