A legendary actor and Central Coast resident passed away Thursday night, after a year-long battle with cancer. John Forsythe died in Santa Ynez of complications from a bout of pneumonia.
His career spanned more than six decades in television, film and theatre. One of his most memorable roles was oil tycoon Black Carrington from the 1980s series, "Dynasty." He also brought the mysterious Charlie Townsend from the original "Charlie's Angels" series to life.
Members of the community are speaking out about the infamous silver-haired actor, about how great of an impact he had here at home. "He was a local in this community on the Central Coast and he is going to be greatly missed," said Pismo Beach resident Austin O'Dell. "I'll greatly miss him because I remember very fond memories as I watched the show." Others comment on the great presence he had on the big screen, "He just seemed to be a symbol of sophistication and elegance, and a gentleman, quite a gentleman," said Jan Helsel, of Santa Ynez.
Forsythe was 92-years-old.
