Today is the start of National School Lunch Week. It's designed to raise awareness about the role of the National School Lunch Program and highlight the importance of nutrition for children.
The Santa Maria Bonita School District is leading the way in providing healthy school lunches for its students, including fresh fruits and vegetables.
A national school lunch bill is working its way through Congress that would require schools to provide more nutritious lunchroom options. It would also expand food programs for low-income students.
