An Atascadero soldier gets a hero's welcome home in San Luis Obispo Wednesday afternoon.

Army Specialist Daniel Donnahoo is back home after his first tour in Iraq. He's been gone for about one year.

Wednesday, dozens of people showed up at the San Luis Obispo Amtrak station to surprise him with a big welcome home. "I thought it was going to be Mom, maybe, that would be here to pick us up," said Specialist Donnahoo. "I figured we'd go home, then see everyone else, but this is absolutely, quite amazing."

Specialist Donnahoo says, other than family and friends, what he missed most about being home is driving and surfing.
