The man who found the most famous shipwreck of all will stop by his alma mater in Santa Barbara on Sunday.
Robert Ballard is a geophysicist, marine geologist, oceanographer, and explorer, whose discoveries include the wrecks of the Titanic, the Bismarck, John F. Kennedy's PT boat and scores of other ancient shipwrecks, some dating back 750 years before the birth of Christ.
Ballard was the first to discover hydro-thermal vents on the ocean floor, and he says we know more about the moon than what sits just off our shores.
You'll be astonished to find out some things you don't know about the oceans when Dr. Ballard takes the stage Sunday afternoon at Campbell Hall on the UCSB campus.
His visit is sponsored by UCSB Arts and Lectures.
