A local group of world-class vocalists is putting on several concerts this weekend here on the Central Coast.
The San Luis Obispo Vocal Arts Ensemble is celebrating 35 years of music, with performances at Cellar 360 in Paso Robles and at two area churches, one in SLO and one in Cambria.
Concerts will feature small groups like "The Bald Spots," as well as all 50 of the ensemble's trained vocalists.
They'll perform music from the 1930s, '40s, and '50s, with styles ranging from country and western, to jazz, show tunes, pop, and doo-wop.
The group's founder and music director, Gary Lamprecht says it's a broad spectrum.
"We have Cole Porter, we have George Gershwin, we have a lot of the Broadway stuff that was early on and kind of migrated into the Oklahoma and the musicals that we see now," he said.
The ensemble has performed all over the world, with tours in the British Isles, Russia, Poland, Italy, Argentina, and Uruguay, among others.
This summer, they're traveling back to Europe for gigs in Norway and Sweden.
