Two high school students help earn funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County.

On March 17, Reshmee Patel and Jasmine Medizade were presented with United Way youth grant funds to help support an after school mentoring program.

The girls are two of 50 mentors who work with students at Sinsheimer and Nipomo Elementary Schools.

In San Luis Obispo County, teachers and mentors of children in the School Based Mentoring program reported 64 percent of the children had an improved academic performance and 90 percent of the children had improved self confidence.
