Local veteran debuts horse he won in national contest

A local veteran is saying a big thank you to everyone who helped him win a recent Facebook contest, and he wants you to meet the newest addition to the family.

Chris Kelly and his family hosted a house warming barbecue for the rare Gypsy Vanner horse he won in a contest for veterans. The Kellys wrote on their Facebook page inviting anyone who helped to come celebrate and meet Braveheart.

"It just kind of spread like wildfire, we had people from literally all the way across the country, people from the east coast to the west coast that were going online and voting for us," said Kelly.

Kelly is a former Marine who served in Iraq and his wife entered him in the contest without him knowing.
