Local veterans head back to Central Coast after free trip to Washington D.C.

On Friday, a group of local World War II Veterans took off for Washington D.C. on a free flight to visit the war memorial dedicated to them.

13 veterans got the free trip thanks to Honor Flight, a local organization that coordinates free flights and trips for veterans to visit the war memorials in the nation's capital.

On Saturday, the group visited the World War II Memorial, and they even got a behind the scenes tour of the capital building.

They also visited the Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Vietnam Wall.

On Sunday, they visited the Marine Corp Memorial, and they even watched the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The group is set to head back to the Central Coast Sunday night.

Their plane lands at the San Luis Obispo Airport at 9:45 p.m.
