A local veterinarian got much more than he bargained for while halibut fishing last weekend near Cayucos.

Dr. Harley Boos, of Arroyo Grande, was off of Toro Creek Sunday, a place he often heads to for fishing. While looking for halibut, he stumbled upon a shark he said was 14-15 feet long, more than likely a great white. He said the shark was playing with a harbor seal it had partially eaten.

The shark came so close to Dr. Boos, it was actually under the boat.

"The shark was not afraid of the boat, and it gave me lots of good shots for about 20 minutes or so. Then it disappeared and I got bored and left." said Dr. Boos.

Dr. Boos said he has seen one great white before, but that was near Ragged Point.
