A Cayucos woman battling inoperable, recurring cancer will be fulfilling one of her dreams Thursday when she meets President Barack Obama, an item on her bucket list.
KSBY News first reported on Jodi Fisher on Monday; she turned 44 years old and celebrated by giving ice cream to anyone and everyone she saw in Caycuos on Saturday.
Fisher and her husband Shawn put together a bucket list with their two children after she was re-diagnosed with cancer about a year and a half ago.
The items on her bucket list included simple pleasures such as letting her 9-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter skip school, renting a limo to go to Cambria and buy fries and eating lobster.
Fisher wanted the focus of the list to be on spending time with her family, but there were also logistical reasons for a pared-down list. She is unable to fly because of health concerns.
But she also had two grandiose dreams: to shake President Obama's hand and go to the Ellen DeGeneres show.
And on Tuesday night, Fisher received a call: she's going to meet the President of the United States Thursday.
Watch KSBY News to find out how a local connection is leading to Fisher's meeting with the President.
