Local WWII veterans take an honor flight to Washington, DC

Local vets who served in World War II got to go on a special trip Thursday.

For the first time this year a woman is among the veterans on the trip. They left the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport early in the morning.

While in D.C. they will see the WWII Memorial, the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknowns, and many other memorials.

The cost for each veteran is $1,500 for the trip; the money is donated by the community.
