It's a new year, which means it's time for some to make a list of resolutions.
In fact, for 2013, getting healthy and losing weight top the list of the most popular goals.
According to a University of Scranton study, only 8% of people actually succeed with their resolutions.
"You have to make it a point that you have to schedule it into your day so no matter how tired you are or what gets thrown your way, work, school or whatever, it has to be something you're committed to and you have a time spot in your day to go do it," said Julie Martinson.
Julie makes it a priority to hit the gym a couple of times a week. "If you're going to commit to something then go in full force and commit to it," added Julie.
Julie was surprised to see how empty the gym was on Tuesday but, she said, in a couple of days it will get very busy. "You'll see it then taper off for the people that are really committed. They'll still be here and keep going and then the crowd will kind of die down too, as people start falling out of their routine."
At Weight Watchers in San Luis Obispo, January and February are some of their busiest months.
"The benefits of losing weight and getting healthy, I think, affect everything else in your life," said Sheryl Collmer.
Sheryl said one thing people always bring up when talking about weight and health is how to stick to their goals. "If each person can tag into their particular personal motivations, the reason they want to lose weight, not for anyone else but just for themselves then they're good. They're good because that will get you passed a lot of hard times like parties or pizza or office snacks."
Other popular resolutions this year include learning something new and saving money.
