If you plan to travel on Wednesday, you can expect to see a lot more cars on the roads and people at the airport. According to AAA, the day before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year.
43.6 million people will go away this holiday weekend.
According to AAA, about 90% of travelers will drive.
"With the gas being the way it is, I don't know what to expect," said Cathy Daniels of Guadalupe.
AAA said lower gas prices have turned more people into driving, instead of flying.
"Hopefully we can get a little bit less of the crazy people now if we go early tomorrow morning. We'll get a few different class of crazy I guess you could say," added Danielle Huse of Santa Maria.
In San Luis Obispo County, last month, the average gallon of unleaded gas cost $4.58. Today it's down to $3.94. Last month in Santa Barbara County, gas was $4.51. Today it's $3.89.
"A lot of these new cars get so much better gas mileage and you can load up the whole family and, you know, however far you're going to go it's at least a tenth of the price, you know. You figure a wife and two kids, that's four airline tickets. That's not cheap," said Austin Olivares of Ventura.
