Local Congresswoman Lois Capps defends how the Obama administration has handled the Gulf oil spill. She says he's been taking action since day one. Capps spoke to seniors this afternoon in San Luis Obispo about the impacts of healthcare reform. When we asked her about cleanup efforts in the gulf, she said the disaster shows how dirty and dangerous fossil fuels can be.
"The sooner we can transition into renewable energy sources, the better we will be and we have here on the Central Coast, some of the best technology and the opportunity for jobs for the 21st century, right here, coming out of Cal Poly, coming out of UCSB," Capps said.
She says clean energy legislation is already working its way through the senate and believes the real criticism should fall on the oil industry who's been operating without proper regulations.
