Lompoc city officials announced Tuesday that Captain Lawrence "Larry " A. Ralston will be the new City of Lompoc Police Chief.
Ralston will be taking the place of current Police Chief Timothy L. Dabney who is expected to retire August 14.
Ralston has been with the Lompoc Police Department since 2007 and currently manages the Operations Division of the Department. He started his law enforcement career in 1983 in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and spent 18 years working for the City of Santa Maria Police Department.
Ralston holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, and has also completed the FBI National Academy and POST Command College.
Captain Ralston will be sworn in as Chief of Police on August 14, at 6:00 p.m., in the City Council Chambers.
