A controversial plan to expand the Lompoc Walmart is one step closer to becoming reality. It was standing room only at city hall Tuesday night. After five hours of intense discussion, the Lompoc City Council voted unanimously to uphold Walmart's appeal. Council members certified the Environmental Impact Report, previously rejected by the city's planning commission.
Now, Walmart needs to meet with the planning commission to discuss and review details on the actual development. Once that gets approved, Walmart will need to get building permits. The company would not speculate on when construction could begin.
