Lompoc firefighters: motor home destroyed in fire

The Lompoc Fire Department says a motor home was completely destroyed in a fire Saturday afternoon.

It happened at the corner of Chestnut Avenue and North Third Street just before 4 p.m.

Officials say the man who owned the motor home had experienced mechanical issues. A small fire started in the motor home, and he thought he had put it out. The fire apparently had not been completely extinguished and caught on fire while the man was in his actual house.

No one was injured.

The fire caused about $7,000 worth of damage.
