The man shot and killed in Lompoc late Thursday has been identified as Gary Bent, 32, from Palm Springs.
Officers say Bent was staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Lompoc. There was a report of gunfire, and when officers arrived at the hotel they found Bent dead with a single gunshot wound to his neck.
Officers have arrested Timothy McNally, 33, for the homicide.
McNally is an employee at the Federal Correctional Complex in Lompoc, according to the Lompoc warden. The warden says Bent was employed at the Federal Correctional Complex in Victorville.
