Lompoc man found guilty in murder trial

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney says a jury found a Lompoc man guilty of first degree murder with a gang enhancement.

26 year-old Charles Owens shot and killed Michael Spradling in an alley in June of 2007.

The case originally went cold, but a Lompoc Police sergeant took over the case and later arrested Owens in 2011.

The investigation found Owens also beat and sexually assaulted his girlfriend.

That case was merged with the murder trial.

Owens was also found guilty of several sexual assault charges.
