The Lompoc man convicted of murdering a four-year-old boy back in July 2009 will spend the rest of his life in prison. A judge sentenced James Lujan to 75 years to life in prison without parole Thursday morning inside a Santa Maria courtroom.
Lujan, 30, beat Diego Calles to death at a Budget Inn in Lompoc. He was the boyfriend of the child's mother at the time.
Back in December, Lujan was found guilty on four of six counts, including second degree murder and torture. He was also found guilty of torturing another child back in 2006.
We'll have details tonight, including reaction from Diego's family and the prosecution on KSBY News at 5 and 6.
