After falling half a second short of his Olympic dream in 2008, Lompoc native Duane Solomon, Junior made sure it didn't escape him in 2012.
The 27 year old finished third in the men's 800 meter final at the US Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon on Monday night.
The Cabrillo High graduate finished third in 1:44.65 and met the Olympic A standard at the same time to qualify for the London Olympics.
Nick Symmonds finished first in 1:43.92 and Khadevis Robinson came in second in 1:44.04 to round out the three American men that will compete in London in the 800.
Solomon edged UCSB star Ryan Martin for the third and final spot. Martin finished fourth in 1:44.90 to fall .35 of a second short of a trip to London.
Solomon is a first-time Olympian. He finished sixth in the 2008 Trials and fell .5 of a second short of qualifying for Beijing.
