Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for the deadly hit and run that happened in Lompoc Wednesday.

Police say 53-year-old Antonio Mendez Zarate of Lompoc was arrested Saturday in connection with the incident.

On Wednesday, officers were called out to the interesection of College Avenue and I Street. They found 86-year-old Faustino Aguilar Ramos with injuries to his head and other parts of his body, but they were unable to revive him.

They were able to determine that the injuries were from being hit by a vehicle.

On Saturday, Lompoc Police seized Zarate's car and booked him into the Lompoc Jail.
