Lompoc police officer pleads no contest to DUI, hit and run

Lompoc Police Officer, David Garcia, entered a no contest plea for DUI and hit and run for a crash that happened in March.

A senior prosecutor says if Garcia does not complete his community service, he will serve 30 days in jail. Garcia will also attend AA meetings and pay fines and restitutions to the City for costs of removing a tree he hit in the crash.

Captain Don Deming with the Lompoc Police Department says, "He's (Garcia) still working for the department. He's still able to provide a valuable service to the department in spite of the challenges he's facing now."
