Lompoc High running back Lavon Coleman has verbally committed to the University of Washington. The senior-to-be made the decision while attending a camp on campus.
Coleman will follow in the footsteps of former Braves star Napoleon Kaufman. He still holds several career rushing records at Washington and went on to a successful NFL career with the Raiders.
Coleman picked the Huskies over several other big name schools like Boise State, Cal, Fresno State, Arizona, San Diego State, UCLA and Washington State.
As a junior, Coleman led the Braves to a perfect 14-0 season and second-straight CIF Southern Section championship. The 5-11, 210 pounder rushed for 2,038 yards and 26 touchdowns. He added 2 touchdowns on kick returns.
