Lompoc will swear in a new police chief and a new fire chief Tuesday evening.
Lompoc Police Captain Larry Ralston will become the city's new police chief. He joined the Lompoc department in 2007 after spending 18 years working on the Santa Maria police force.
Ralston began his career in law enforcement in 1983 with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
At the same ceremony at Lompoc city hall, Kurt Latipow will become the city's new fire chief.
Latipow has been in the fire fighting profession for 35 years. He was appointed Arroyo Grande Fire Chief in 1992 and has worked for several California agencies.
Most recently, Latipow spent five years as a fire services coordinator in Washoe County, Nevada.
