Long Beach man arrested for attempted murder in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara police say a man from Long Beach is in custody for a shooting that took place last November.

On November 25, 2012, police say they found a 39-year old man with several gunshot wounds lying in the street on the 1100 block of Bregante Lane. The victim survived.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a dispute over proceeds from crack cocaine sales.

In March, detectives identified Johnnie Lee Gray, 38, as the suspect in the case. He was arrested by Long Beach police, who also had a warrant for his arrest for drug sales.

Gray has been in the Los Angeles County jail since his March arrest. He is expected to be extradited to Santa Barbara County in the next few weeks. He faces a charge of attempted murder.
