Morro Bay High School graduate Jerome Long had two tackles for loss in the Cowboys third preseason game in Arizona. The Cardinals beat Dallas, 12-7 to drop the Cowboys to 1-2 in the preseason.
Long didn't make any tackles in the first preseason game, he made two in the second but the two tackles on Saturday were both on running backs behind the line of scrimmage.
Long was drafted in the seventh round before last season by the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent most of last season on the Chiefs practice squad before being signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played the final two games with the Jags without making a tackle.
The Cowboys have 70 players on their roster right now but will have to cut it down to 56 by the start of the season.
Long is a defensive tackle who played four seasons at San Diego State after his high school career with the Pirates.
